Thanks for your kind words. I’m glad this article provided some information about him. The mainstream media intentionally omits these types of narratives and I aim to fill that glaring gap with my work. I’m glad this was helpful.
Thank you for sharing this insightful article, the result of investigative reporting.
Another highly qualified candidate - together with his team - who addresses the kitchen table issues, has a vision and a viable project and has integrity, is being heavily criticized for the wrong reasons, even by members of his own party (!). Is the democratic party intent on achieving full self destruction ?
Thanks for your kind words. I’m glad you found the article useful.
I agree with you when you ask, is the Democratic Party intent on achieving its full destruction? The party lacks strong leadership and is plagued with in fighting and betrayal. It’s a sad state of affairs. If they want to stand a chance at the midterms, something is going to have to change fast.
I sure did learn something new! I didn't realize that Mamdani's mother was Mira Nair!! Or that he was named after Kwame Nkrumah. That is so cool! Thank you for this inspiring post, Zuri.
This is an informative article and I'm hoping to see many more! Slowly, new leadership with visions of hope and help for the people are surfacing within the Democratic Party. It will be up to all of us to support them and have their backs as the forces of power in both parties attempt to marginalize and sideline them. We cannot let that happen!! Black Woman in Charge is a powerful name for a group that I will subscribe to as a white ally. It's a concept that resonates strongly with me. The titles of the articles I see below are all intriguing and I look forward to reading them and to encountering more valuable and righteous perspectives. I will share forward....!
I knew very little about Mamdani other than he beat Cuomo and I was so happy to hear that. His background is fascinating and thank you for giving me reasons to like him even more. I'm sharing this to several friends who live in NYC. I already knew he would come under fire because of his label and skin color. Now I have info for the fools who will berate him. Many thanks.
Thanks for the lesson and insight. I think after all that has happened, he is a breath of fresh air and a reminder that politics and policy can be used for the good.
Thanks for explaining some of the dynamics of how folks have to move around so much to land somewhere safe. Sadly, he and his family are probably less safe now because of the primary election and the totalitarian country we have become.
Thank you for this article. It gives me greater insight into a person I already liked. :)
Thank you and thanks so much for reading. Please share this piece if you can. Thank you.
Yes, restacked and sent to an on-the-fence person. :)
Powerful and educational piece. You are such a brilliant writer. I’m sharing this with my New York based friends. Thank you!!!
Great piece Zuri. This is actually the first article I have read to learn more about him.

Shout it from the rooftops! Democratic socialism is not communism and Mamdani’s proposals use to be what Dems and republicans wanted!
And the history of his name: he wears the mantle well.
Thank you.

Mississippi Masala is a wonderful film. I saw it about 20 years ago. Must see again! The story of an Indian family’s migration.
