The Mediocre Black Woman is my rebellion against the pressure to always be exceptional. This space helps Black women reject perfectionism, embrace their humanity, and find joy in simply being—mess, rest, and all. Here, you’re already enough.
This publication is what I have looked for all of my life. It’s a place to come to read stories that make me feel that I can just be. I don’t need to be strong, perfect, all those things society thinks we, Black women, should be. This is a powerful writer, reading her work is like self-care for me.
My perspective is never given equal representation in the mainstream media. I believe character matters. I believe the experts. I believe in education. I believe women. Let me know if you have a story to tell. There's no AI content in my newsletter.
I’ve been reading Walter’s work for the past 4 years. It is thought provoking and it reminds us of the double standards we may have when it comes to minorities. I really enjoy reading his work and I’m sure you will too - especially if you are on the path to deeper learning on antiracism and all race-related issues.
